For Students:
For Parents:
- This interactive math program is based on Common Core. The focus of Common Core in Grade 1 is Algebra and Base 10,. These are the types of lessons that students will work through at this grade level. DreamBox has recently added Measurement and Geometry for our grade level.
- Students should spend about one hour each week in DreamBox--outside of changing their avatars or spending their tokens.
- Please do not help your child extensively--your child needs to be able to work at their own pace and on their own.
- 100% growth is equivalent to one grade of growth.
DreamBox is set up by grade level. Each grade level has a certain number of tasks to be completed:
As a result, they can neglect finishing a grade level. For instance, a student can accomplish certain tasks and be on two grade levels:
If there is a “blue ribbon” icon next to an activity, it is because I assigned that activity to them. I want them to work on this activity first before going to activities without this icon. At times the activity may be very easy for them, but if they do not complete it, they will not complete the activities for that grade level.
Please let your student work at their own pace. It does not help your student for you to do the work for them.
Time spent on DreamBox should be about 15-20 minutes a session, not to exceed an hour each week. Moderation is key!
“My Arcade” and “My House” will be available to students occasionally. Students are then free to change their avatars and spend their tokens.
- Kindergarten: 12 tasks
- Grade 1: 20 tasks
